Yes! I am Dr Kanhaiya Kumar

Nazish Huma Qasmi
Yes! I am a great orator; I deliver the facts to the public passionately. I am an outspoken, courageous, friendly, sociable, graceful person, for these qualities I am known as Kanhaiya Kumar. Yes! I'm the one who always question the government for its failures. I raise slogans against the menace of fascism, henceforth, I frighten the saffronists, I strive for saving the constitution, I address the issues of violence against minorities, I am critical to chowkidars for their false rhetorics and vapid grandiloquence. I'm the author of my autobiography titled, "Bihar Se Tihar." I'm a former JNU student leader, presently I am a CPI (Communist Party of India) candidate from Begusarai Lok Sabha constituency.
I was born in January 1987, and was brought up in the village of Bihat Gram, (near Barauni) in the Teghra assembly constituency, district Begusarai, Bihar. My birthplace is known as a stronghold of the Communist Party of India. I belong to Bhumihar community. Name of my father is Jai Shankar Singh; he has been paralysed and undergoing treatment for a long time. My mother Meena Devi is an anganwadi worker. My mother transformed me into a forceful voice for thousands of youths; she did it with her little amount of monthly income. I've two brothers: younger to me is Prince, nowadays he is pursuing his education and my elder brother, Manikant, works as a supervisor with a company in Assam.
I studied primary school till class 6th at Madhya Vidyalay, Masnadpur, and afterwards I took admission in R.K.C High school, Barauni. Later I joined the Ram Ratan Singh College at Mokama. In 2007, I graduated with a degree in Geography from the College of Commerce.
I began my involvement in student politics, henceforth, I joined All India Student Federation and after one year I was elected as a delegate during the Federation’s conference held in Patna. While studying in Patna, I became member of AISF. After completing postgraduate degree program I joined Delhi’s renowned Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), there I was enrolled in to a PhD program in the department of African Studies. In 2015, I became the first AISF member who was elected President of the JNU Student Union; I defeated the candidates from All India Students Association (AISA), Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), Students' Federation of India (SFI) and National Students' Union of India (NSUI).
Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru's death anniversary was organized in JNU on February 12, 2016; media gave enough coverage to this programme. During this occasion unjustly my colleagues and I were charged for shouting anti-national slogans and hoisting Pakistani flag. Hence, Delhi police detained us under the Sections 124-A (sedition) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of Indian Penal Code; but police couldn't prove any charge against me and I was granted interim bail on March 2, 2016.
After being released, I came to JNU with my two friends, Umar Khalid and Shehla Rasheed. With great enthusiasm I continued to oppose the communal elements. In the aftermath they were hagridden by the the name "Kanhaiya Kumar." The title, "freedom fighter of new India" was bestowed upon me for speaking against the propagators of terror and extremism in India. Despite my backward background I emerged as an ideal and exemplary labourer and a hard-working man who is spending his life in a state of virtual penury.
I always remember the lesson taught to me by my sick father, "the silence will not let you live in the world, if you really want to live then raise an upheaval in the world."
I raised the Indian flag high in the campus of JNU and simultaneously raised the slogans for freedom and I said, "We will get freedom at any rate—freedom from RSS, freedom from Manuvad, and surely we will snatch the freedom, freedom of expression, freedom to roam around the streets without any fear, I ask for freedom at midnight, and I want nothing but, freedom.
I want freedom in metro cities, verily we will win the freedom, freedom, freedom from exploitation, freedom from poverty, freedom from starvation. Freedom is our fundamental right, certainly and anyway we will grab the freedom, we love freedom even more than our own lives, we relish the lovely freedom, chant for freedom together. Pay your attention to our voice both of you, Mr. Modi and RSS! We want freedom, freedom from Mohan Bhagvat, freedom from Brahmanism, freedom from destruction, freedom from capitalism and freedom from devastation, ultimately we will win freedom. Freedom is our right, and we will get the freedom by hook or by crook; the whole nation chants for freedom and only freedom. Our slogans for freedom invigorated our silent youth, revitalised their hearts and souls, galvanized the downtrodden and panic-stricken people and now they are standing with us shoulder to shoulder.
Yes! I'm Kanhaiya Kumar, and to suppress my voice, a reward of Rupees five hundred thousand was announced for the one who would cut my tongue. A prize of Rupees 1.1 million was proclaimed for the one who shoots me down; but, I am not afraid, I am not worried, I did not silence my voice; rather I kept on challenging the extremists explicitly and boldly, I told them that you cannot terrorise me and you cannot shoot me down, you are cowards. You cannot silence my voice even you slaughter me. If one Kanhaiya is killed thousands of Kanhaiya will come up for taking his place.
The movement I've initiated for fighting against your evils will not stop even though I am not here. Yes! I'm Kanhaiya Kumar who once said that we want freedom not from India but from the dacoits who loot India.
I'm the one who commented when Modi tweeted "Satyameva Jayate", “I have many differences with the PM but I agree with his tweet 'Satyameva Jayate' because these words are in our Constitution.”
Yes I'm Kanhaiya Kumar who stands by the mother of Najeeb, sympathises with her and speaks out for Najib’s recovery. Yes! I cried, moaned and lamented the mob-lynching of Junaid and I didn't muffle my voice like other so-called champions of secularism. I was shocked when I saw the dead body of Junaid and from the very moment I am determined that I will have to fight and I have to retaliate against tyranny. For achieving my goals, first time I travelled all the way from Bihar to Delhi. During this journey, which I embarked into the general coaches of railways, I faced a lot of trouble. But, now because of the love which the downtrodden and oppressed people of Begusarai have for me, I will reach in to the parliament with the power of their votes and will roar there. I will bend over backwards to provide justice to the browbeaten ones by questioning the government. I will help unemployed youths and people to get them into the jobs.
My announcement for contesting 2019 general elections, has stirred the communal forces. The one who used to go to Delhi for winning his candidacy today he is withdrawing his name out of fear and anxiety. Those who were suggesting others to migrate to Pakistan are hiding their faces out of dismay. Their fear has revealed even before I win, I hope that the general public of Begusarai will cast their votes; they will elect me as their representative and will send me to the parliament. As a result, I will turn out to be the voice of suppressed people with all my might.
